Bcm4312 Windows Xp Driver For Mac

This package provides the Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) and XP. It installs the software (Wireless LAN driver and utility) to enable the following device. - Broadcom BCM43227 b/g/n wireless cardThe software should be installed on systems with at least 50MB of system memory.

please suggest a driver compatible with Windows 7 for the following device; BroadcomBCM43222 4322 mini PCI 802 11a/b/g/n wireless wifi card. The above card has been employed in a Dell notebook operating within Windows XP. Microsoft has announced they will stop supporting XP April, 2014. I intend to switch to Windows 7 which in examining the hardware resulted in an indication a Windows 7 driver for the mini PCI card is required in order to continue using the internal wifi card.

Device drivers are the software interfaces that talk directly to the physical network hardware and are required for the hardware in the computer to communicate with the operating system. A "driver" is the name given to the software interface that allows the operating system to communicate with the hardware. If the network device is not performing as expected then it is likely that the driver is not working correctly. A PCI\VEN Code can be split into pieces that correspond to manufacturer of that hardware. The first part, the "PCI\VEN_", is specific to the hardware manufacturer, Broadcom has the PCI\VEN code of "PCI\VEN_14E4". The "&DEV_" part of the code relates to the category of the hardware, in this case the "DEV_4315" category is "Network" hardware. A list of compatible device driver software for the Broadcom BCM4312 LP PHY device is shown below.

After digging some FreeBSD-wireless threads and OpenBSD-tech/OpenBSD-misc, I noticed that adding the PCI vendor to any specific driver will not work since this specific device have differences on its hardware construction compared with Broadcom 4312 or Broadcom 4318.

Implementing this Broadcom Wireless driver will need a huge effort to get done, and many of the users are using wifi dongles or converting ndis (Windows XP version) drivers to get wireless conectivity.

Broadcom historically hasn't cooperated much with efforts to open-source drivers, although it's been changing its approach recently. Because of this, there are still some Broadcom wireless cards without reliable open source drivers, which many operating systems won't support. There's a good Wikipedia article listing which wireless cards common OSs support.

The issue for people with non-supported cards (like us) is that, in monolithic kernels like most 'nix OSs, device drivers are a part of the kernel. Because of this, they can only be installed when the kernel is compiled.

So, the tl;dr is that you'd have to take a driver that supported this wireless card (from FreeBSD, for example), and compile it into the kernel. This means a lot of compilation time and potential headache - you're actually building the operating system itself before you install it. Alternatively, you can buy a cheap USB wireless adapter for less than $10. Just make sure to first check that it's supported!
